Which doctor will treat my neck?

You will see Dr. David Severance DC, ND or Dr. Moriah Severance DC, ND. They are husband and wife, and both hold chiropractic and naturopathic doctor degrees, so whichever one you see, your neck is considered alongside your sleep, stress and nutrition. Let us know if you have a preference when you book.

When is the Jackson office open for neck pain visits?

Our hours are Tuesday and Thursday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 1pm, and the Saturday morning is there for people who cannot step away from work midweek. You can book online through our Jane App scheduling page or call the office at (517) 581-2785. We see patients from Jackson and the surrounding towns, including Spring Arbor, Grass Lake, Michigan Center, Parma and Brooklyn.

Why does my neck pain keep coming back?

Usually because whatever produced it is still part of your day. Alongside caring for the joints themselves, we look at how you sit, how you sleep, how you carry stress and whether what you eat is supporting your muscles and joints. Education is a large part of care here, because the changes that last are the ones you understand well enough to keep going on your own.

My neck started hurting after a car accident. Can you help?

Yes. A neck strained in a collision is one of the more common reasons people come to us, and it is worked up the same careful way: history, examination, then a plan you agree to. Our auto accident care page covers how those injuries are documented and treated.

Is a neck adjustment forceful?

We explain what an adjustment involves before we do it, and we choose an approach that suits your build, your age and how sensitive your neck is that day. If a gentler method is the better fit for you, that is the one we use. Tell us at any point if something does not feel right and we will change course.

Do I need x-rays before you work on my neck?

Not as a routine step. Images are taken when your history and examination give a clear reason for them, and our on-site digital x-rays make that simple when it is warranted. If nothing in your exam calls for imaging, we get on with care.

Could my neck be causing the tingling in my arm?

It can be. When a nerve leaving the neck is irritated, the symptom often shows up further down the arm as tingling, numbness or weakness rather than in the neck itself. We test for that during your examination, and our pinched nerve care page explains what that involves.
